Trek’s Roscoe 8 Mountain Bike is a fine choice, for those new to the discipline as well as more experienced riders looking for a great value all-rounder. With 12-speed gears from SRAM and hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano, there is no questioning its validity as a serious mountain bike, especially when combined with Trek’s envious heritage in the sport.

The Alpha Gold Aluminium frame has a tapered head tube and is both lightweight and stiff enough for efficient power transfer whilst the wide 2.8” tyres and 120mm RockShox 35 Gold suspension fork keep the ride comfortable and the grip levels high. The TranzX dropper seatpost allows the saddle to be lowered (and raised again) instantly for greater control when descending steeply or enjoying flowing over technical ground, while the 27.5” wheels also increase the bike’s agility.
